About Andrew

Andrew Burkey is a motivated and accomplished journalism student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, pursuing a B.S. in journalism with a specialization in Sports Media. He is passionate about storytelling through both print and broadcast journalism, with extensive experience in live broadcasting. Aspiring to build a career as an on-air journalist, by leveraging strong communication skills and a dedication to delivering compelling, impactful stories to diverse audiences. 

Burkey has a multitude of experience working as a play-by-play broadcaster for Big Ten Plus, Anchor/Producer/Creator of mutliple shows within the UI7 Newsroom, including receiving a 2025 NATAS Mid-American Student Production award for his work on 'Power Play', beat reporting for the Illinois Football team and creating content as a digital creator for NBC Sports.
